THE GNOSTIC HERESY
Although there are many facets to the Gnostic heresy, a movement which emerged during the 2nd Century, its core doctrine is that of a dualism which seeks to repudiate Old Testament law. Our concern is not on the many diverse cosmologies of the movement, but rather, its view of ethics. Gnostics identify the author of Biblical law as an evil god, and the illumined, those who break that law, as inspired by the good god.
We can find the origin for this inversion in a confusion over the role of Satan in the Old Testament. Being a member of the angelic host, he is not autonomous. Rather, he performs service to God, despite himself. In Old Testament times he was identified as the enforcer of Divine sanctions upon disobedience. When the people sinned, they were turned over to his torments. He was known as the "angel of death".
Failing to understand this distinction, Gnostics believe that Jehovah was Satan. That is why Satanists have such an infatuation with death, blood sacrifices, maledictions and the black arts. These are all things which have to do with death, and thus, the satanic doctrine.
Yahweh was the source of Old Testament law and Satan was the source of the sanctions for disobedience to that law. His successful attempt to entrap mankind in disobedience, so that he might have grounds to destroy it, brought Divine wrath upon him, as well. Jesus Christ came and destroyed "him who had the power of death." (Hebrews 2:14)
Cain was the first Gnostic. Yahweh exiled Cain for the murder of his brother Abel. Abandoning family government, the Bible tells us that he built the first city - the first center of despotic power. Thus, the city-state was the first manifestation of the satanic doctrine. The unique characteristic of government is its use of deadly force. Civil government is a tool for the concentration of power. Most Satanists are drawn to government and politics. The Early Fathers taught us that angelic powers preside over human jurisdictions. In ancient times, the world was organized according to city-states. Modern times brought the rise of nation-states. The push is on, now, for the world state.
Other Gnostic sects attempted to create a strange Trinity of the Father with two sons: Jesus and Satan. Jesus and Satan are the Yin/Yang and the Father is the unifying principle for these conflicting opposites. A secular form of this doctrine is Hegel's dialectic of thesis v. antithesis. Marxism is dialectic materialism. The unifying factors in each of these systems is the state.
Dualism is the source of much evil in the world. You are encouraged to learn about the Desposynic teaching on the Trinity and the Family.
